I’ve had several people reach out after the recent post about my efforts to remaster the BanMyu Sailor Moon musicals.
The short answer is yes, they should be available to watch soon!
I’m a big fan of the folks who run the Sea of Serenity website. It was their translation of PGSM that got me started on this weird and wonderful journey. They’re incredibly passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated.
They, and the extended community around the site, were there every step of the way during this process, offering support, encouragement, and a sounding board when I was unsure how to proceed.
Now that this project has concluded, I have turned all of my remasters over to Sea of Serenity.
Although they are not available on the website yet, they should be in the near future.
So, my advice? Keep an eye on Sea of Serenity. I’ll of course mention the rollout right here on Tumblr, as well.
Really, if you enjoy Sera Myu, Sea of Serenity is a fantastic resource, regardless.
By the way, my PGSM HD remasters will also find a home on their website.

If you’re on our Discord channel, you’ll already have seen a special stream of Sailor Moon Musical – Nogizaka 46 Version 2019. Now,
we’re releasing this video for everyone to enjoy! The 2019 Nogizaka46
music is essentially the same as 2018’s show. It features members of
Nogizaka46 as the Sailor Guardians, a new group this time around. Mamoru,
Queen Beryl and the Shitennou’s actresses have reprized their roles for
this special second year of the musical. The show itself is mostly the
same with the same songs. If you watch, you’ll notice small upgrades
like Luna’s puppet now having blue eyes that blink. Also, for the
special concert at the end, Ai no Starshine replaces Solar Miracle Make-Up.
This version of the 2019 show is from the TBS final day broadcast. We
do plan to release a DVD quality version as well. If someone would not
mind kindly donating a rip of their Blu-ray version, we would also love
to release a Blu-ray quality version. We currently lack the hardware to
be able to do so ourselves.
Akiko Kosaka has started a YouTube channel and is uploading video of her playing songs on piano, mainly Sailor Moon related! For those that aren’t familiar with her, she composed nearly all the music in the original run of musicals, as well as songs for the 90s anime, Crystal and was working on the Prism on Ice show.
So far she has done:
Tuxedo Mirage - the linked video. As many of you know, it is the ending to Sailor Moon S.
Anata - an original song she wrote in 1974, when she was 16, and became quite famous in Japan.
Densetsu Seitan (Birth of a Legend)
- the theme song for Sailor Stars and its Winter revised edition. It also
reappears in Summer 97, Winter 98, Spring 02 and Winter 04 musicals.
Minna Dareka ni Aisarete(Everyone is Loved By Somebody) - the closing song of all Kaguya Island musicals. It shares the melody of LINK, which it seems she plays a little bit at the beginning before Minna in the video!

For @sera-myu-week ‘s day 2, I wanted to share a song back from La Reconquista that I re-listened to recently.
Inori (祈り) “Prayer” is the finale battle song against Metalia, performed by Sailor Moon and the Four Guardians. What’s particularly nice about this song is when the Four Guardians chime in to power on Sailor Moon and the melody for We are the Pretty Guardian comes in. Very nice!

1993 Summer - Spin-off - The Dark Kingdom Resurrection Chapter

This musical acts as an alternate sequel to the first season of the original 1990′s anime. This is the show that started it all debuting actors and actresses who would go on to be involved in the Bandai produced Sailor Moon musicals for many years. This show also features the only BanMyu which includes Luna and Artemis in the cast.
This musical is the first Sera Myu show to debut in 1993. It is
also the first musical for Anza Ohyama as Sailor Moon, as well as the
popular first Sailor Mercury actress, Ayako Morino. This is the show that starts it all and many of the cast go one to be involved in later Bandai produced Sailor moon musicals. This musical acts as
a direct sequel to the first season of the original anime, being the
only musical to directly relate to the anime series and have direct
references to it. This is also the only musical where Luna and Artemis
were characters in the story.
Neither of the cats are cast in a Sailor Moon musical until 25 years later with the Nogizaka 46 x Sailor Moon musical project, which has Luna in the form of a puppet.
It’s kaiteiban (revision) was
unfortunately never released on VHS or DVD, so this is the only version
of the musical that is available to watch.
Usagi and her friends are looking forward to their upcoming summer
vacation, hoping it to be filled with lots of fun and romance. However,
Usagi has a dream where Queen Beryl declares the revival of the Dark
Kingdom. Luna is rightful upset, as Usagi’s dreams and premonitions come
true. Ami, Rei, Mako and Minako are skeptical but soon the resurrection
of the Dark Kingdom becomes apparent. Once again, the Sailor Soldiers
much return to D Point in order to save Tuxedo Mask from Queen Beryl and
the Four Heavenly Kings.
Can Usagi and her friends save Mamoru and the Earth or will the Dark Kingdom’s plans actually come to fruition…?
