Today we release our double release of “Sailor Moon Musical - Nogizaka 46 Version” both Team Moon and Team Star. In this musical featuring members of Nogizaka as the Sailor Guardians, we’re taken back to the beginning and for the first time ever the awakening of each Sailor Guardian is shown in a musical. Usagi Tsukino, an ordinary girl meets a black cat named Luna who changes her world forever when Usagi is forced to fight Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom as the Guardian of Love and Justice, Sailor Moon.

1993 Summer - Spin-off - The Dark Kingdom Resurrection Chapter

This musical acts as an alternate sequel to the first season of the original 1990′s anime. This is the show that started it all debuting actors and actresses who would go on to be involved in the Bandai produced Sailor Moon musicals for many years. This show also features the only BanMyu which includes Luna and Artemis in the cast.

This musical is the first Sera Myu show to debut in 1993. It is also the first musical for Anza Ohyama as Sailor Moon, as well as the popular first Sailor Mercury actress, Ayako Morino. This is the show that starts it all and many of the cast go one to be involved in later Bandai produced Sailor moon musicals. This musical acts as a direct sequel to the first season of the original anime, being the only musical to directly relate to the anime series and have direct references to it. This is also the only musical where Luna and Artemis were characters in the story.  Neither of the cats are cast in a Sailor Moon musical until 25 years later with the Nogizaka 46 x Sailor Moon musical project, which has Luna in the form of a puppet.

It’s kaiteiban (revision) was unfortunately never released on VHS or DVD, so this is the only version of the musical that is available to watch.

Usagi and her friends are looking forward to their upcoming summer vacation, hoping it to be filled with lots of fun and romance. However, Usagi has a dream where Queen Beryl declares the revival of the Dark Kingdom. Luna is rightful upset, as Usagi’s dreams and premonitions come true. Ami, Rei, Mako and Minako are skeptical but soon the resurrection of the Dark Kingdom becomes apparent. Once again, the Sailor Soldiers much return to D Point in order to save Tuxedo Mask from Queen Beryl and the Four Heavenly Kings.

Can Usagi and her friends save Mamoru and the Earth or will the Dark Kingdom’s plans actually come to fruition…?

ACT 43: Usagi and Mamoru’s Promise

“My heart is forever with you.”

Usagi continues to try to suppress her powers as the number of Youma appearing increases. Unfortunately, the Princess begins to awaken when Usagi is asleep. Usagi’s anxieties over Mamoru and the future of the Planet begin to consume her to the worry of her family and friends.

Jadeite and Zoisite clash over who their true Master is, Endymion or Beryl. However, Beryl is concerned with the potential Metalia’s power growing too great to control.

Mio delivers Mamoru an ultimatum, she will stop the power of the stone and let Mamoru see Usagi, provided that this is the final time…

ACT 42:  I Won’t Use the Power of the Illusionary Silver Crystal

“Why can’t you understand?”

Naru is still hospitalised and Usagi decides to open up fully to her. To make sure nothing like this ever happens again, Usagi begins endurance training which pushes her way past her limits in order to control the Illusionary Silver Crystal.

The Dark Kingdom has problems of their own, Zoisite continues to fret over not being enough to save his Master, Kunzite is uninterested and Queen Beryl sets up a special task for Jadeite to perform on Endymion.

Usagi disappears one night and Luna goes searching for her. Meanwhile Ami and Makoto take it in turns to cover Usagi’s home life (and Ikuko’s cooking). Rei and Minako discuss the goings on and what seems wrong about this awakening of the Princess…

Mamoru arrives in the Dark Kingdom and the Four Heavenly Kings (or rather the Three Heavenly Kings) discuss their conflicts, Jadeite who is shocked Queen Beryl would use him in a threat as she did and Zoisite who believes Jadeite should switch allegiance to Endymion.

“Everyone, today, let me introduce a new friend to you…”

There’s a new transfer student at Usagi’s school and it’s none other than Minako Aino’s rival very special and super cute best friend, Mio Kuroki who is heading up in the charts. Though Mio seems is friendly to everyone, things never seem to go quite right are super amazing and really good for either Minako or Usagi when Mio is around. Usagi is torn as not a Minako Aino fan but when Mio reaches out for her friendship, Usagi struggles with her natural instinct to be kind cruel and unkind. During a trip for ice-cream, a Youma What’s a Youma? appears and the next day at school, things are different good and absolutely nothing suspicious going on here, please hydrate your body with morning tea, GOO!

Meanwhile, things are just getting back to normal for the others with Ami back and Luna sets Ami and Makoto on a special training regime to awaken completely like Sailor Mars and Zoisite shows up to Mamoru in London… some losers somewhere get up to something, no-one cares about them.

After having an argument with her mother, Usagi runs away from home. She ends up at the shrine helping Rei prepare for a picture show celebrating the story of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter also known as The Tale Princess Kaguya. Zoisite attempts to track down the princess, whom he is believing to be Sailor V, attacking anything relating to “princess”. The Queen of Darkness, Queen Beryl appears and Luna is forced to tell the Guardians what she knows about their past.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a 49-episode live-action remake of the popular “Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon” series by Naoko Takeuchi. Under the pen of Yasuko Kobayashi, these familiar characters live different lives from their former counterparts but are still recognisable as the beloved characters of the anime, manga and musicals.
