Sailor Moon 30th Musical Festival -Chronicle- Senshuuraku Reaction & Review Part 1
Introduction
Key terms: Myu - a general term I will be using for musicals. Sera Myu Chronicle - The term I will be using for Sailor Moon 30th Musical Festival -Chronicle- Sera Myu - Sailor Moon Musical Banmyu - a fan made term for the run of musicals from 1993-2005 produced and sponsored by Bandai. NelkeMyu - a fan made term for the run of musicals from 2013-2017 produced by Nelke Planning and Dwango. NogiMyu - A fan-made term for the 2018 and 2019 released musicals featuring cast from the idol group, Nogizaka46. KaguMyu - The term I will be using for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Musical -Kaguya Hime’s Beloved- (2021). Senshuuraku - the final day of a performance. Sea of Serenity - fansite dedicated to providing as highly accurate information and translations of the popular Sailor Moon meta-series as possible.
Recently Sera Myu fans have been blessed with a music festival in honor of the 30 year celebration of the Sailor Moon Musicals! 8 full performances showcasing the nostalgia and the love of the musicals from one of the most beloved anime/manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi: Sailor Moon. These performances occurred from Nov. 17- Nov. 20, 2022 all with the same story line along with special guests from previous actresses from Banmyu to KaguMyu and the wonderful and the amazing Akiko Kosaka(Twitter) who has written several songs for the anime as well as songs and background music for the musicals. A list of the actresses can be found here: Sailor Moon News Network with the exception of Meiku Harikawa who had to miss the last day due to health.Here is also a wonderfully created visual layout of the performance scheduleby @landofanimes .
Before I start my review, I would like to give a huge shout out to the absolute GOAT @crazykacey for providing not only access to the livestream of Sera Myu Chronicle but audio recordings from the performances as well. @crazykacey also provided a plot summary for those who are interestedwhich can be found herealong with an English translation of the musical numbers in the pamphlet! I would also like to give thanks to Sea of Serenity’s @britchan for recording and uploading the last two performances!

Anyways..
I was able to watch the Sera Myu Chronicle together with so many Sera Myu fans. It was amazing to enjoy it with others in the Sea of Serenity Discord. If you haven’t checked out yet, please do! There is a wonderful and supportive community there for all of Sailor Moon! The link can be found in the Sea of Serenity website. It truly made the experience magical as we all fangirled and cried over the entire performance.
This is my first review I’ve ever written so please bear with me if I get anything wrong, especially any details regarding the Myus. I may be a fan but my knowledge isn’t as vast as compared to the many dedicated and devoted fans in the Sera Myu fandom. Keep in mind, my thoughts and opinions may not be in line with others as this is a subjective review with a hint of objectivity since I’ll reference some Myus in the past. If you do not agree, I respect that. If you do decide to comment on this review, please do so in a respectful way that isn’t hateful towards myself, the fandom, or even the performers.
Coming back to this introduction, I will most likely have to break this review into 2 maybe 3 parts because it is LONG. Please look forward to the other parts in the following days.
Shiratsuki Gonin Musume(or whatever you want to call it since it has like 40 alternative names but in this performance it was called this officially) was performed by 5 Inners + Chibi Moon, very similarly as in Amour Eternal as Venus didn’t get to finish her verse :(

As you can hear, they samg these back-to-back so that’s why they are in one recording. Unmei no Anate e was sang by Chibi-Usa (Chise Niitsu), Michiru (Ayano Kinoshita) and Hotaru (Yuka Ide) and the 5 Inners during the final chorus. And Koisuru Satellite is performed by all 10 Senshi.

Tumblr is being an ass and won’t let me share these as they are so we gonna have to use Drive (: anyhow, Wandering Stars was performed by Mamoru (Riona Tatemichi), Setsuna (Chisato Minami) and Haruka (Shinjyu Terada)

And now… The final one I recorded and most certainly the best as IT IS THE SPECIAL LIVE PERFORMED BY AKIKO KOSAKA-SENSEI, ANZA, HISANO, MISAKO, EMI AND AKIKO M!!! It consists of La Soldier, La Fatalité Sei Senshi, Sailor War, Densetsu Seitan, Minna Dareka in Aisarete and La Soldier. (Starts around 2:20)
Can’t tell if people were crying more during Minna Dareka ni Aisarete or La Soldier lmao They also danced the BanMyu dance of La Soldier! It was SOOO amazing. Apparently this is gonna be part of the DVD but here is something for the impatient ones lol

Okay so I wrote some sort of summary of the plot of Sera Myu Chronicle. I might have already forgotten some things and such and my grammar sucks cause it’s super late so yeah AND SPOILERS!!! DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS
Will there be new SoS releases of the musicals that are soon coming out on blu-ray for the first time? Or better yet, separate subtitle files?

If I can get a hold of raw files (since I didn’t order the box set), we could update our releases with these BR quality ones. I’ve been also thinking about releasing soft subbed versions so this would be a good opportunity for that!
Hello (this is actually @gracemyheart but Tumblr won't let me do asks from a sideblog). I wanted to ask if you can recommend a software for subbing. I really love how you make your subs so pretty and colorful. And I plan to sub Chou Wakusei Death Vulcan no fuuin in near future (in German). I already did sub Last Dracul and Kessen tnm but the software I used was really bad. Thank you :)
